1,735 REGISTERED VOTERS VOW TO VOTE FOR TINUBU BECAUSE OF KEHINDE JOSEPH

By Toyo C Ngem
IT has been revealed that no less than 1,735 registered voters in Alimosho Federal Constituency have resolved to vote for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential Election due to come up in less than eight months from now. The interesting part of the poll results was that these voters representing about 66.4 percent of the respondents said they would be voting for President Tinubu because of their state Assembly representative who happens to be Hon Kehinde Olaide Joseph.

This was the result of an opinion poll said to have been conducted by a Lagos based organization known as The Fateful Day Witnesses (TFDW). The organization revealed that the mapping was carried out in the southern extremities of the Alimosho Federal Constituency delineation, which geopolitically is called Alimosho Constituency 02. It comprises two of the 37 local council development areas – Igando/Ikotun and Egbe-Idimu LCDAs.
Hon Joseph is the Chairman of House Committee on Public Finance and Appropriation whose immediate locality is Idimu in Egbe-Idimu LCDA. But this poll result, according to the organizers, is for Igando/Ikotun LCDA and it was said to have been significantly buoyed by responders from Akesan, Egan and Abaranje/Okerube.
Giving analysis of how the results were derived, the organisation’s Director of planning, Yetunde Oladesire, said eight responders were randomly selected in each of a 250 streets also randomly selected with preference for “high density demographic ones”.
QUOTE BY HON KEHINDE JOSEPH ON THE BUILDING OF ABARANJE SECONDARY SCHOOL
He said: “But let me make you know it, this result is for Igando/Ikotun LCDA which lies in the southern extremity of the entire Alimosho Federal constituency. In administration of our questionnaire, we deliberately made areas of high density demography our mapping areas. This is because we wanted to achieve representation of a high number of people in every street. We worked on 250 streets altogether across the LCDA. “The local council has seven wards though; we strived to reach 40 streets per Ward. So, I’m saying that our streets coverage could as well exceed 250, but we had to ignore the responders who said they were yet to get their PVC”.
Giving the basis for initiating the poll, the field coordinator and statistician, Mr Adeola Mabinuoya said the “motive” was to see how President Tinubu would be fair in Alimosho in the coming 2027 elections. He clarified that their original intention had little or nothing to do with Hon Kehinde Joseph, adding that it was the interpretation of the respondents’ position that revealed what “influence” the Honorable would be having in the Presidential Election.
He said: “our motive was to find out what could have changed about the voters’ pattern in Alimosho after about three years of Tinubu as President. Remember, Asiwaju lost the 2023 Presidential Election in Lagos. And as many election followers in Lagos have said, this could be primarily attributed to his loss of Alimosho. To say Tinubu lost in Lagos because he lost Alimosho, you can hardly fault that. Alimosho has the highest number of Polling Units which is about 1,450. So, the motive is to find out if Alimosho people have had a change of heart and are now ready to give it to Tinubu come 2027.
“To tell you, therefore, we never had the Honourable member representing our mapping area in mind as a direct subject. But by the time we interpreted our feedbacks, we discovered that he might be having influence to reckon with for the victory of Mr. President’s re-election in his Constituency. And how did we get there? In a part of the question is asked: Why would the respondent want to vote for Tinubu? Many of the reply picked the option: ‘because of my state Assembly member’.
The TFDW said the poll would continue with their shift to Egbe-Idimu LCDA inward to the Central and North of Alimosho, noting that they had to do it one after the other in order to maximize the human resources capacity at their disposal. They however assured that by the first quarter of 2026, they would have come up with a result of the fate of Asiwaju’s second term victory in Alimosho.
In review of this maiden poll, they revealed that the total random sampling they made was 2,860 and the number of valid respondents they treated was 2,650. It was out of this total that the figure for those willing to vote for President Tinubu because of Kehinde Joseph was derived among the valid voters’ feedback.
THE ABARANJE SECONDARY SCHOOL BUILT BY HON KEHINDE JOSEPH AND NAMED AS SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU SECONDARY SCHOOL, ABARANJE
In an independent investigation of The County, which included a formal interview with the Honourable by Civics Weekly, the impact he has made in governance service value in the Ikotun/Igando LCDA part of his constituency was found to be quite significant. It goes to the extent of a compassionate height that he had to decide to personally build a public secondary school for the Abaranje/Okerube communities on his sole funding and sponsorship, even at the depth of cost that will not compromise standard at every stage of putting the school to being. The testimonials to Hon Joseph’s impactful performance however cut across the social classes from the hoi polloi of the pyramid base to the royal stratum.
At the last annual Stakeholders’ meeting of the Lagos State House of Assembly for Alimosho Constituency 02, the Onikotun of Ikotun, HRM Oba Asiwaju Gbadabiu, was in his full elation to say that the honourable had done in six years a developmental stride his predecessors could not achieve in the previous 16years. Therefore, it could not be unexpected that ‘KJ’ as he’s fondly called would have become a household name in that Alimosho extremity. He came in as their representative at a time the area, which was yet developing, appeared neglected in touches of government presence. But at his time, a fast tracked development suddenly became the people’s fortune, especially around the loop of Abaranje/Okerube and Akesan. And, According to him, the ultimate goal he set for this was to open up the road connectivity of the Alimosho Southwest extremities of Okerube/Akesan which has a big river as a linkage barrier. This informed his mooted idea to cause the State’s approval for a prospect of another big and state of the art abattoir in Okerube when he was the Chairman for House Committee on Agriculture. This proposal led further to a corollary advantage of project initiative on the recently commissioned Ikotun/Abaranje Highway.
In concentration of his service value in this axis, he facilitated the upgrading of the old and dipidated buildings of Okerube/Abaranje Primary School. That turned the fortune of the schools to two separate new blocks of one-story building that we see their today. But the highest point of value he would be adding in this education sector was his decision to break the jinx of curse that has deprived the communities of a secondary school education for years.
