HON Adele Ayuba is facing the backlash of his Press Conferrence held last Thursday. A group based in Alimosho has come out to condemn him for what they described as his "vitriolic" attacks on Apostle Cornelius Ojelabi, State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on premise of false allegation. The group also warned the Member of House of Representatives (MHR) to desist from towing his path of morbid desperation now tending towards putting Alimosho in a state of chaos ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group which identified itself as Concerned Apolitical Progressives of Alimosho (CAPA) said it came out to express its displeasure with some "disconcerting and potentially volatile" contents of a Press Conference organised by the MHR and his team of claque. Part of the unsettling contents of the press statement, according to the group, was the threat that Alimosho would lose the coming general elections if the party failed to restore his "purported" victory at the concluded House of Reps Primary held a couple of weeks past. "This was categorically pronounced at the event and the Honourable amplified it on his Facebook handle as said to be made by the
Onikotun of Ikotun", CAPA said.
Ayuba is representing Alimosho Federal Constituency in this expiring 10th National Assembly. He contested in the last APC House of Reps Primary for a bidding to return to the coming 11th NASS. But he failed to secure the party ticket through a controversial twist of gender imperatives introduced to upturn his reported claims to victory. Hon Olabisi Adebajo (aka ABISCO), his major opponent and a former two-time Executive Chairman of Mosan/Okunola LCDA became the immediate beneficiary of the party ticket.
In part of his struggle to undo what he now sees as open and brazen electoral heist, Ayuba and a group of his camp organised and held a Press Conference on Thursday, June 4, at Iceland Event Centre, Egbeda. Expectedly, it aimed at calling the attention of party leaders at the state and national level, especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to effect a reverse of his thoughtful injustice.
In the Press Speech read by Mr. Okedara Kolawole, adorning Babariga with monogram insignia of CAGRAM, they described the essence of the conference as a need to expose the "undemocratic" incident unfolding in Alimosho Federal Constituency, which they believed to be the handwork of Cornelius Ojelabi. In the speech, Ayuba was said to have won the primary election with a landslide victory underscored by overwhelming majority votes. They accused the APC State Cairman of trying to impose his preferred candidate for the House of Reps, saying that the people of Alimosho strongly stood in unity to reject it.

The speech read thus: "We state categorically and without ambiguity that the overwhelming majority of party members across Alimosho Federal Constituency strongly rejects any attempt by Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi and his collaborators outside Alimosho Federal Constituency to impose an aspirant lacking electoral value, astute acceptance, electoral relevance, and the confidence of the organic membership of the party.
"Before the primaries, stakeholders in Alimosho organised a Federal Constituency Meeting under the leadership of Her Excellency, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and Hon AbdulRhaman Adebisi Yusuf. The Constituency Meeting adopted Hon Ayuba Ganiyu Adele as our House of Representatives Consensus Candidate. At the recently conducted primary election, Alimosho stakeholdees across the line clearly demonstrated their true wishes for Hon Ganiyu Adele Ayuba by securing an overwhelming victory with a total of 37,029 votes while the aspirant being promoted for imposition by external factors scored only 2,792 votes".
Speaking to The County on Saturday, June 5, the Director General of CAPA, Mr. Ayodele Abimbola, said Alimosho already had enough of destabilisation coming from disunity among the party leaders and it was high time the politicians allowed the party leaders at the state level to address issues with all fairness that would bring harmony to the party. He added that the State Party Chairman was not imposing anybody as a party candidate on Alimosho. Rather, as he noted, the state leadership had only followed the "tradition" of settling internal electoral dispute where the necessity becames imperative. And as a matter of fact, the same Ayuba was a product of this mechanism in 2023 when the primary election became inconclusive with fatality.
He said: "We heard about the Press Conference and we condemn it in the strongest term, not because Honourable Ganiyu Adele Ayuba now struggles to return to the House of Representatives for the second term. That in every sense is what politics is all about and it is his democratic right for him to take all legal measures to go about that. That Press Conference was one of such acceptable norms of struggle within democratic space.
"But I must say it again and again, we condemn in the strongest term his attacks on the State Chairman of the progressives party, Hon Cornellius Ojelabi, describing him, implicitly, as working to destabilise the local progressives with imposition of a candidate against their purported democratic winner of the primary election. Nothing can be farther from the truth than such claims to Ayuba winning the primary election. Hon Ayuba is rather laying false claims to victory he never achieved. The figure being flaunted as his vote returns was cooked up. We challenge Ayuba and his noise maker claque trying to clap with one hand to produce a single evidence of where voter accreditation and voting line of option A4 system ever took place in that primary and he was found to have won after the counting".
Mr. Abimbola explained how CAPA had been abreast of the politics in Alimosho even while not being fully partisan because they were professionals,
He said: While we may not exhibit full partisanship with our cultural Progressives inclination, we are part and parcel of the Alimosho progressives" politics. We know what operates inside even though we operate outside the realm of the politicians' cave as a back up to mobilising votes for the APC, especially beginning from 2023 when we came out to pursue the realisation of the Bola Tinubu's Presidential ambition. And when the opportunity of tha last APC membership Registration came, many of us became full card carrying members of the APC, even if we were to operate at norminal level but intensify our activism at electoral season".

The group faults the Press Conference as lacking in organic support of the party leadeship, arguing that the leaders that endorsed Adele Ayuba had since faced the reality of the party's supremacy in sailing the course of APC ship in the right direction.
Abimbola said: "Take a look at the Press Conference venue and count how many of the leaders they claimed to have endorsed Ayuba for party candidate were there? None! As you heard one of the spokes person say, the endorsement were done by Hon Bisi Yusuf and our great mother and leader, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire (OFR). As it were and as we also know it for fact, the endorsement gathering also had in attendance, the executive council chairmen of the six Alimosho Administrative divisions. The elected Party Chairman of the Alimosho Federal Constituency, Pastor Ibrahim (aka Morroco) was there. Now were all these leaders present at the conference? No!
"That should tell you that the MHR has been left to personally carry his cross. These are facts of the case the press conference represents as Ayuba's trial luck intrigues. He is good to go with that, but let him not use his clannish blackmail with Awori monarchs to threaten that without him, Alimosho will lose 2027 general elections".
