BIRTHDAY MARK @75: 'IT'S A JOURNEY OF FULFILLMENT SO FAR' -- OTUNBA ADEDAYO
By Razaq A. Jimoh
As Shakespeare said in his evergreen axiom: "There is no act to find the mind construction in the face". This is a fact that may be congruous to poker face only. Otherwise, it clearly defies the logic of gloom and joy. In innate joy, the face brightens and in gloom of same, it is grimace laced with scowling face. The joy side is the fate of our "young' leader at 75years, whose life today epitomizes what it takes a man to flaunt the pride of accomplishment in life.
In an engagement with him at a table of two, Otunba Adedayo Adebayo Salvador (aka Blacknight) did not make it a Freudian slip when he slobber over his journey through life. "I'm a lucky man", he sighed out.
This cannot be a language of pride to scorn nor a statement in need of dissection for verity. To him, it is a stanza in lyrics of his gratefulness to the Almighty for all that worked and still working in his favour.
In elegance of his handsome look with sound health as a Septuagenarian, 'how many of God's favour can he deny?' as the scriptures quarry. In mark of footprint on the sound of time, he has delivered his wealth of knowledge for many to earn their life sustenance. As a First Class graduate of Chemicsl Engineering from the prestigious 'Great ABU', he did not only walk through the school, he also assimilated the norms of 'character and learning' the ivory towers have in quantum for breeding leadership. Thus, in business and politics where he had cause to give this leadership trait, Otunba always earn the right accolade, making all that encounters him to willy nilly confess to his leadership. Of course, there could not be no exceptions to this -- those who would want to query his right to leadership claims. That surely makes the lot of those with rots of mischief for mind and soul.
In his tread on the sandy earth of life, his footprints have been indelible as much as they make noise of his goodwill many must have benefitted from on crest of his individual and institutional midal touches for imparting life. Such is the indelible mark he left behind as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG), Bonny Island. This was one place outside his ethno-geopolitical zone where his end of tenure would sound like a killer thunder to over 275 staffs, for whom he had to go all out - and out of his way - to ensure the regularisation of their employment.
Besides that, he inherited a system devoid of ethos and a breakdown of internal order from disharmony among the ranking cadre of staff. It was to be a test of his leadership zeal and skill in human management. He came out in flying colour too.
In family life, his accomplishment is stunning. With offsprings that are not only well read but also accomplished in job security. It is often said that the prayer of every parent is for the child to surpass his accomplishment in life. Blacknight has enough of this to flaunt in pride and for pride.
In summation, what else is left to say than to testify it: that you have come, you have seen and you have conquered all that was your lots in fate of destiny. But gracefully, the journey is just starting in a new phase with many more to see and many more to be conquered. Our prayer is the God guidance and gift of blessings for more empowerment to lift more lives and heal more of sorrowful souls in the light of human kindness. Let us all rise to a toast for the man of leadership valour, whose capacity for battle has just been challenged by antics of some "kindergarten politicians", as per R. A. Jimoh in his book -- Once a Girl-child
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OTUNBA ADEDAYO ADEBAYO SALVADOR!
