'ELECTION OF PRINCE BALOGUN IS A MANDATE FOR ME TO DELIVER FOR MY PARTY' -- KSO

Story by Razaq Adedeji Jimoh
'I AM HANDING OVER A UNITED PARTY TO OLUOMO'
The Executive Chairman of Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area, Hon Kunle Sanyaolu Olowoopejo (CCY'24), has revealed that the direct mandate he has now is to deliver Prince Idris Balogun to his party as his successor. He made this statement first at an interactive session with Civics Weekly magazine, the parent body of The Alimosho County, a while back. He would later restate it at the flag off of the local election campaigns for the LCDA.
Olowoopejo is the Chairman of the LoHel Organising Committee (LOC) for the election campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards the coming July 12 Local Government Elections in Lagos State. He has the LGA Party Chairman, Alhaji Akibu Soliu, as his co-chairman. Prince Idris Balogun (aka Oluomo Kaafata) is the Chairmanship Candidate of the APC for the election in Egbe-Idimu LCDA.
At the inthatctive session with Civics Weekly, Olowoopejo said the election of Prince Balogun had become a project for him to deliver because his governance assignment would not be complete if he could not produce a successor flying the flag of his party. He said though it would seem that the traditional succession planning in Egbe-Idimu is for Vice Chairman to succeed the Chairman, but it was the wish of the party to change that this time.
He said: "With our Primary Elections now concluded, the unspoken language but a very loud message from the party to me is that I now have the mandate to deliver Prince Idris Balogun as my successor. Of course, if we want to look at it from the tradition of our succession planning since the creation of Egbe-Idimu about 20years past, it would be seen that it is the Vice Chairman that always succeeds his boss. But the party said, this time around, the tradition had to be broken.
"And if you look at it carefully to see that the party had a clear understanding of what it had done, this past Primary Election would be the first to be conducted without any skirmishes of thuggery and brigandage. Not a single chair was thrown by any contestant side for a sign of mechanisms . Of course, no political party would be perfect enough to conduct primary elections that will be devoid of grievances and discontent for one reason or the other. So, this our primary might not be without its own version of that, but the good thing was that all that were made to explore the party's internal resolution mechanisms with the attendance peace to trail it. In Egbe-Idimu however, the party's decision was embraced without any rancour or plaints of grievances. That was such the primary that produced Oluomo as our party candidate. Given that, therefore, it has become my mandate to deliver him as the next Egbe-Idimu Council Chairman for APC.
"I am saying all this to reassure the people of Egbe-Idimu that it is the government of continuity they are about to get if they vote Oluomo in the coming election".
ADVERTORIAL: JULY 22 IS THE AWARD DAY FOR THE CIVICS COUNCIL CHAIRMAN OF THE YEAR. THE HONOREE IS NO OTHE PERSON THAN HON KUNLE SANYAOLU OLOWOOPEJO. FRIENDS, WELL WISHERS, ESPECIALLY CLASS 2021 OF HIS CABINET MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO CONTRIBUTE THEIR TRIBUTES ON THE PEKSON OF KSO THEY HAVE WORKED WITH
Also speaking at the campaign flag off a couple of days back, Olowoopejo said he was happy that his mandate to deliver Prince Balogun as his successor was beginning on a good note. That good note, according to him, is that it was a united APC members that were set to help him fulfill the election mandate. He praised his Vice Chairman, Hon Mutiu Adebiyi, for embracing the party's decision.
He said: "I am very happy today that here at this gathering is a united APC members ready to work for Oluomo's election. It is my joy that I will be handing over a united APC to him is the incoming Chairman.
"As we all know, the primary elections of any political party is one of the potent route to disintegration of the party. We should thank God that such has not been the portion of APC even in the entire Lagos State since the era of our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as Governor of the State. That tradition has continued today in advanced form with the peaceful primary elections we had last month.
"For the harmony of party faithful we have here today, one of the people to thank for it is my Vice Chairman, Hon Mutiu Adebiyi. Despite being the foremost aspirant to lose in the primary, he was the first to call Oluomo to congratulate him. I know it was not easy for him, but he has further proven to be a party man to the core by embracing the party's decision without rancour. Okunrin to n sun rara fun okunrin egbe e ako ise lo n se", he ended with Yoruba proverb.
Admonishing Egbe-Idimu to come out in their large numbers on the election date to vote for Oluomo, he said it was the guarantee they had for a government of continuity as the hallmark of sustainable development.
